FAQ

What is the backstory of the congregation?

The backstory of the congregation is very simple.  A few weeks before what would be our first worship assembly, we met to discuss the possibility of planting a church.  After a discussion about doing this one person looked around at the 15 or so souls in the room and said it looks like we have a congregation so let’s get to work and start meeting.  The Lord blessed us with everything we needed to start.

Harvest Field was not a new idea. Much of this group had been thinking and praying about starting a new congregation in West Omaha for a number of years.

Since we are a newer congregation do we have any strange beliefs?

We are supposed to be peculiar people.  So maybe we are strange by the world’s standards however, we strive to pattern ourselves after the New Testament church as described in scripture.  Check us out our Facebook and YouTube Channel to see videos of our worship and teaching. We are happy to study anything out with you. We look forward to it!  Ask us a question

How did we get the name Harvest Field?

Traditionally, most congregations are named after their location.  There are a lot of examples in scripture of this. However, a name is just a description of the people meeting.  We considered over 50 names as we worked to search for one that was right. Because we are planning to move at least once if not several times in the future we decided to go with a name that was more descriptive of the work ahead of us instead of a location.   The name specifically came out of Matthew 9:36-38:

When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.  Then He said to his disciples, “the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Do you have elders?

Not at this time.  We are training men of all ages to be deacons and elders with the objective of having elders at some point.   Keep praying about this for us. We want to establish qualified elders who will serve Faithfully to shepard the congregation in a direction that will glorify God

What is your worship like?

Great question, Click here to learn all about how we worship our God in truth and spirit

John 4:23-24:  But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.  God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
